FAQs

  • What benefits does a regional mixing center create?

This regional mixing center will house fresh produce, protein, dairy, and dry goods under one roof, offering food banks customized multi-temp loads with smaller quantities, more variety, and lower transportation costs.

  • How will this regional mixing center work?

Tarrant Area Food Bank provides warehouse space and physically handles all product. Collaborative for Fresh Produce (CFP) supplies donated/PPO fresh produce. Fresh Connect Central (FCC) supplies purchased protein, dairy, and dry goods; acts as the operator and customer-facing entity for ordering.

  • Will sourcing for this regional mixing center disrupt the availability of product donations at my food bank?

No. CFP follows all standard local, regional, and national protocols while sourcing produce. All other products are purchased directly from manufacturers or vendors.

  • Can I still get loads directly from Fresh Connect Central or the Collaborative for Fresh Produce?

Yes. Both CFP and FCC will continue their current business activities as usual. This regional mixing center is an addition to their existing models, not a replacement.

  • Who can order from this regional mixing center?

All network partners will have access to and the ability to order from the regional mixing center.

  • How can I order from this regional mixing center?

Orders will be processed through FCC’s ecommerce page at www.freshconnectcentral.org or through FANO’s Meal Connect Marketplace once launched.

  • Can I use my FANO freight subsidy on orders from this regional mixing center?

Yes. Orders placed directly through FCC and the Meal Connect Marketplace are eligible if you still have funding available.
